Time upgrades touch more than time entry

A modern Time estate can span web, desktop components, activity capture, identity, revenue governance and finance integration. The test plan should follow that whole journey rather than stop at “the application opens”.

Know which Time experience you operate

Document Time Web, desktop or desktop extension components, activity capture, identity and any virtual desktop deployment. Firms often have a mixture of components during transition, and each one needs an owner and test case.

Read release notes with two audiences in mind

Some changes are visible to timekeepers; others affect administrators, integrations or deployment. Separate user-facing change from technical change so communications and testing are proportionate.

Follow a time entry end to end

Create representative entries, edit and validate them, release/export them and confirm the financial system receives and acknowledges them correctly. Where relevant, test returned or rejected entries as well as the happy path.

Include capture and identity

Calendar, email or other activity capture can fail independently of core time entry. Authentication, SSO and user provisioning should also be explicit test areas, particularly when identity components have changed.

Be careful with AI-enabled features

New AI-assisted capabilities can be useful, but firms should assess licensing, data handling, governance, user enablement and support before treating them as simply another UI feature. Confirm current functionality and terms directly with Intapp.
