Expert Sierra is a cloud-based practice and financial management platform, but readiness still depends on the wider estate. The difficult questions are usually around integrations, data, reporting, identity and the operational processes that sit around finance.
Record the current platform version, databases, interfaces, reporting, time and expense capture, billing processes and supporting services. Include jobs that may have been built outside the core application.
A cloud transition can expose assumptions about direct database access, local file shares, service accounts and network proximity. For every interface, establish whether the target pattern is supported and how errors will be monitored.
Finance data is often consumed by BI, profitability, budgeting, collections and regulatory processes. Catalogue downstream consumers so the target design does not inadvertently remove data access that teams rely on.
Confirm how users authenticate, how access will be provisioned and how finance roles and privileged access will be controlled. Include joiners, movers, leavers and support access in the design.
Test time and expenses, billing, posting, integrations, reporting and any critical finance cycles. A migration is not complete because the application is reachable; it is complete when the operating process works and reconciles.
